Fritz!Box Unbrick

METHOD 1​

This is the simplest method and should work on almost all Fritz boxes.

Step 1 :

          Select your FritzBox version and click on your country, select recover and download the .exe.

Step 2 :

Start the .exe and follow the instructions.

Step 3 :

If you have any problems, disable your firewall.

Step 4 :

If you get the error "reading the version failed!",

1. Cancel the recovery program.
2. Press the key combination Windows key + pause key.
3. The basic information window of the computer opens.
4. Click on "Device Manager".
5. Under "Network Adapter", double-click the LAN network adapter that is connected to the FRITZ! Box and select the tab with the advanced settings (for example, "Advanced", "Advanced Settings").
6. Select the property for setting the transmission rate (for example, "Transmission Rate", "Connection Type", "Connection Type", "Media Type").
7. Set the value "10 Mbps, halfduplex" or similar and click on "OK".
8. Run the recovery program again.

Step 5 :

Wait until the process is complete and restore your settings or set up your FritzBox again.

METHOD 2​

If there is no recover.exe available for your FritzBox, you can try to boot from the alternative partition set.

Step 1 :

Open a Command Line (as Administrator/Root) and type :

ftp 192.168.178.1

Connect the FritzBox with your PCs LAN Port. Now connect the FB with the power supply and as the LEDs of the FB blink red immediately press Enter. Now you should be asked to type name and password. Use adam2 for both.

If not, you maybe missed the right point in time. If so, try again a few times or try to start pinging the FB while plugging in so the FB is being hold in the Bootloader. Now you should be able to connect using the ftp command.

 Step 2 :

Find out which partition set you are using right now.

 quote GETENV linux_fs_start

Step 3 :

Depending on the Output of the previous command type (using the opposite partition set)

quote SETENV linux_fs_start 0
or
quote SETENV linux_fs_start 1

Step 4 :

Reboot your FB

quote REBOOT

METHOD 3​

[May void your warranty and damage your FritzBox]

If there is no recover.exe available for your FritzBox and the second method didn´t work, there is a third option that should always work.

Step 1 :

Select your FritzBox version and click on your country, select fritz.os and download the .image.

Step 2 :

Extract the necessary files from the downloaded image. (Use 7zip for example)

Step 3 :

Open a Command Line (as Administrator/Root) and type

ftp 192.168.178.1

Step 4 :

Find your FBs partition documentation.

Flash your extracted files to the corresponding partition.

put [x].image mtd[x]

Step 7 : 

Reboot your FB
